frumpy

my mom has this favourite saying that i have remembered for a long time and today it has been plaguing me in particular.

she once told me, "when you get older and married don't think that you can go and get all frumpy just because you've landed a husband...." (or something to that effect) and i always swore that would never happen to me. and honestly i didn't have to worry that much because i am like my mom and i think my mom has a pretty great style.

but i understand how you can slide into that.
i really do.

here's the thing.

once you've gone to the bathroom with the door open (tmi?), coughed yourself into a tizzy for 1 1/2 hours, thrown up while he holds your hair out of the way and wake up looking particularly miserable and with severe morning breath... i mean there's nothing he can't get past anymore.... i mean really - do you have to impress him?

but i try. i really do. and while this may seem a little far fetched this isn't the real issue here.

i also have a fairly clean and tidy house (and yes.... i am aware that i don't have children- but that's not the point).

i think that i will always have a pretty clean and tidy house (again - another trend of my mother's)... but i understand how that too can slip into disarray.

last weekend i wanted to paint.

so last week i emptied out my laundry room and moved everything into the living room (minus the desk, washer & drier). i taped and mudded everything and it was all ready to go. until i went to the hardware store with my handy-dandy certificate for 2 free cans of paint and realized that the person who was working didn't know how to mix paint (the audacity!!)

so i have now been living for more than 1 week with my living room mixed into a messy laundry room.

at first it severly bothered me.... and now
i am getting entirely too comfortable with the mess.

so tomorrow. i am going to paint...... maybe........................... the mess isn't that bad!!

- yes my closet really does look like that sometimes - my need for tidyness doesn't (and never really has) extended to my drawers or closets!
