boys just don't get it

it started with a comment from my husband


and ended in a wierd look from my father-in-law








that's the problem with me.


boys just don't get it!!

my brain works fast. a. lot.
therefore, if you give me about 30 seconds of quiet
and then ask me
"what are you thinking?"

don't be surprised if the answer has absolutely nothing to do with the previous conversation we were having.

for example,
maybe we are talking about the church service.
introduce 30 seconds of silence:

dave: (still thinking about the church service)

kirsten: (in my brain)
i think about church
which makes me think of taking my nylons off
which reminds me that the bedroom is messy
which reminds me i need to clean
which reminds me we are out of garbage bags
which makes me think of grocery shopping
which makes me think of ice cream
which makes me think of ice cream dates
which makes me think of all dates
which makes me think of anniversaries
which makes me think of Medival Times

dave: what are you thinking about?

kirsten: medival times

dave: random.


boys just don't get it.
i tried to explain the pattern to my father-in-law once
it confused him.
so now.
dave doesn't ask
or if he does
i say "nothing"


just like when i zone out, he doesn't bother to comment.

when i come to he'll just say
" how was your visit to la-la-land?"
i've learned not to be offended.
so i just reply, "good. you should go sometime"



like i said. boys just don't get it.
or maybe no one does.
maybe it's just me (please don't tell me if it is)
