this past weekend was my grandparents (on my father's side) 50th wedding anniversary! This is the 2nd 50th wedding anniversary in my family. My dad's parents and my mom's parents.
What a blessing!
In a world where more and more people never get the opportunity to say that their parents are together today, i can say that about my parents, and BOTH my grandparents.
it is a beautiful thing.
neither couple has a perfect life
neither couple had an easy life
but both couples - have God.
that is what i want for my marriage.
we don't need perfect (it'd be nice)
we don't need easy (it'd be wonderful)
we just need God.
through him, and by him all things happen for a reason. with his blessing 49 years and 2 months from now I will be able to celebrate my 50th wedding anniversary.
it's a long way away
a lot of arguments away
hopefully a couple of children & grandchildren away
and a lot of 'everyday joys' away
both my grandparents are great inspiration for dave and i and what a marriage is.
worldly success is overrated.
if in 50 years i can look back on my marriage and our life, and be able to honestly say, "God you have been glorified" then i have accomplished everything i was set upon this earth to do.
