today was an adventure.
i was up at 5:30 on teh road at 6:00 and pulled into a gas station at 6:45
he was a lovely man and he came out to pump my gas. unfortunately while i was scrambling for my wallet. and i honked my horn - LOUD -and yelped.
here is a remainder of the conversation:
me: i am sooo sorry, i wasn't honking at you
him: it's okay where is your home
me (in my head - where is my home? give him a quizzical look and maybe he will clarify)
him: it reminds me of home
me: oh?
him: back in india. there is a lot of 'honk honk' (with added hand motion)
hilarious.
(please remember that it was 6 in the morning, and he had an indian accent which is impossible to capture in print)
adventure 2:
we make it to Fanshawe and pull up to the kiosk.
melissa is holding the map (apparently the wrong way). so when we ask for directions to the parking lot a very brisk, business-like attendant tells us the following:
turn the map
turn it again
turn the map again
you turn right at the stop sign.
see it?
(we nod yes)
follow me with your finger
(more sternly) follow me with your finger.
yes. we are in grade school. thanks teach!
adventure 3:
i pulled into a 1 way parking lot
i almost made a new parking spot in a reserved lot just so i wouldn't have to pay a few cents
i pulled into a on-coming traffic lane (there was no traffic) so i could scoot into the next driveway
and finally....
here is our favourite marketing strategy of the day.
"make it cool to volunteer. find someone on facebook with lots of friends, like me, i have 1500 friends, and then tell them to like you. and then everyone will like you. find the popular kid" (again - WAY funnier with an accent)
well that's all folks
i could tell you about how we picked up a door prize, or heard some real marketing strategies, or how we didn't get lost, but that's boring.
oh, and one more thing.
we may or may not have signed a congratulations book for Price William & Kate Middleton, and we may or may not have included our address (just in case they want to send us a card). and just in case you were wondering - it was sitting at the City of London Reception Desk. seriously.
and no.
we werent the only ones
Hahaha, there IS a lot of cars honking in India.
