last week my mom & dad were in Florida and took a little cruise for a mid-november vacation (lucky them!!). they returned friday night so of course dave and i thought we would go for coffee saturday morning
saturday morning i am texting tyson to see if i can call because i don't want to wake them (their flight came in late) and here is what i get:
tyson: do you have hydro?
kirsten: yes
tyson: ok we don't so we are all coming for coffee and breakfast
kirsten: are you serious?
tyson: ya legit. we are coming. we don't have hydro and no bread
so what am i supposed to do?
freak out about the fact that there are going to be a few more people at the breakfast table?
deny their request?
nope. i do what any regular girl from a large family used to last minute changes does
1. get changed
2. wash the dirty plates in the dishwasher so i have enough
3. check my egg supply
4. and we're good to go
kirsten: okee dokee. but bring some eggs
tyson: ok we will supply the goods.
what can i say? organized flexibility is my middle name.
so at 9:45 saturday morning we fed 8 people breakfast. (did i mention my sister's boyfriend had slept over at our house too....).
i haven't been at a breakfast table with my sibs & parents in a long time.
and nothings changed.
1 still complains about the type of butter
another eats too much
another makes fun of me
one wanders off and turns the TV on in the living room
dad makes jokes that only mom laughs at
yep. family is a good thing.
.......if only they didn't leave so many dishes when they leave
