family oriented

this weekend was kind of a slow weekend.... in one of those, enjoyable & relaxing kinda ways....



and it was jam-packed with wonderful family fun.



Big C & Laura (dave's brother & sister-in-law) were up on Saturday to get some logs for thier wood stove. Not exactly my cup of tea so I just spent the day hanging out with their adorable 2 month old son and equally adorable Molly girl. and though that might seem like a pretty crazy day... it was essentially a little bit of grocery shopping, some tea with the boys, and a bath for Miss Molly. it's really too bad that the whole baby stage has to come before a 1 1/2 year old - cause she is a TON of fun!!


Sunday was a day at the Sjaarda house. dave and I considered staying at home together and just having an "us" day but that idea was thrown out the window in about 5 minutes after we considered how boring that would be.

instead it was a "family hockey game" that rounded out the afternoon. quintin, bert, tyson, laura (t's girlfriend), dave, mom & myself in an intense game of full-contact hockey.... all culminated by a battle to a suspendful tie-breaking ending.



yeah right



more like - the boys skated circles around the girls, i picked on laura because she was the only one i could keep up with, i was on my butt twice, mom was a TERRIBLE goalie.... all culminated by a lot of high pitched screaming (mine.... just in case you thought it was dave)

well - such is life. minus falling on my bum on the ice, getting tackled in the snow by mom, and walking into a tree branch i finished the afternoon unscathed.... and my ego didn't fare too badly either. only a couple of brotherly barbs about the benefit of exercise for chubs (did you guess? - yep. that's me!!)
