baby room

the nursery is DONE! well... almost. there are a couple of bare walls that i would really like to fill up a little but that is a "do whenever" project.

originally the walls were green with wallpaper and border. Mom, grandma & i tackled that project in pieces and then over my Christmas holidays I mudded, sanded and taped the room.

From there it was a trip to Fabricland for some material for pillows, curtains, etc. and a wait to be inspired! We didn't want to choose the paint until after we had the material. We figured it would be easier to match the paint to the material than vise versa.

My brother Tyson came over the friday before new years and helped me paint! ( i cut in obviously) but he did most of the rolling.

Mom & I made the pillows, curtains, etc (or as dave says... mom made them and you made coffee - which IS probably more accurate) and later the crib quilt.

And my loving brother Austin was wrangled into helping Dave move in the dresser, hang shelves and the Chinese lanterns. Mom & i were pleasantly surprised by Austin's keen eye for decorating (he'll love me for that statement).

So without further adieu....
HERE IS OUR BABY ROOM

(chinese lanterns from our wedding and a crib from when i was a baby... and yes, i checked the safety requirements)

(rocking chair from my grandma richmond and the afghan was knitted for me when i was a little girl by my grandma sjaarda)

(curtain - kind of hard to see with the light. i still need to put a layer of material behind it)

(view from the door)

(with the new quilt)

well. there's your tour!!

i am very proud of our little baby's room and more than a little excited to actually have a baby to put in there. sometimes i just pop in for a look when i am upstairs. it makes me almost giddy.

i told dave last night that i think the room is very soft and calming. he laughed and told me that the only reason it's calming is because there is no baby in there!!! maybe he's right - but we are excited nonetheless.

  1. Oh Kirsten! I love the room, you and Dave must be very excited and I am very very excited for you. When the little pile of squish enters the world we can buy him/her so many cute things!
