Google is a fantastic resource. people rely on it more than ever and there is much information that can be discovered on the world wide web.
my co-workers have heralded it as a necessity in order to answer pre-bedtime questions such as "how do snails have babies" (http://www.snail-world.com/How-do-Snails-Reproduce.html - it's actually pretty neat.... if you're interested)
i use google all the time for how to spell words. look up pictures for blogs. stay plugged in with all 'The Bachelor' news.
it has even solved marital disagreements (but that is a different story)
but there is a time and a place for google.
and 1 thing you should NOT do with it.... is diagnose yourself.
by googling symptoms i have diagnosed myself as:
- pregnant (a few months before i was)
- afflicted with H1N1 (just a cold)
- having german measles (turned out to be a heat rash)
and most recently, ie. this week......
- with cholestasis (a liver condition 1 in 1000 pregnant women get)... i was just itchy
and usually i throw myself into a complete tither, and as some of my co-workers will attest to - they have to calmly talk me into understanding that is probably nothing.
i realize that i REALLY need to nip this little problem in the bud (ps: i just googled that to make sure i had the correct expression). I am going to have children and if i continue to google everytime one has a runny nose, a puffy eye, or a sore finger we are going to have some serious mommy-meltdowns and a few too many trips to the emergency room.
so i am trying. avoiding the googling when afflicted with strange symptoms.
hopefully it works
that being said..... my wrists are a little sore
- carpal tunnel?
according to google, you have hypochondriasis!
ReplyDeletei'm just kidding. google told me i was pregnant about 75 times before i really was. it's really rooting for babies.
you might actually have carpal tunnel ... hee hee, but seriously!! a problem during pregnancy, my fingers in my left hand were numb at the ends for a good chunk of my pregnancy ... apparently nerves get squished due to swelling. Just sayin' ...
