regular little homemaker

you should have seen it. it was like a picture out of a 1940's catalogue.
there she was - 1 apple crisp cooling on the rack, another bubbling in the oven, and a large simmering pot of homemade soup on the burner. a collared, v-neck, button- down polka dotted dress belted at the waist and perfectly coiffed hair. her husband off at work after a breakfast of homemade waffles and freshly squeezed orange juice.
almost sounds too good to be true....

** i must warn you that what is below will shatter the lovely illusion you have been presented above.

welcome to the home of kirsten & david passchier on saturday morning...

it was like a picture out of a diaster movie. there she was - dirty blue pajama pants, her husband's oversized sweater, pink ankle slippers with a hole in the right foot and bed head hair that had been thrown into a ponytail. her husband off to pick up a dryer after a breakfast of toaster waffles (that he made himself) and week old concentrated orange juice.

what about the yummies? - yes. pretty much the only redeeming quality about the morning. there was indeed an apple crisp cooling on the rack, another in the oven, and a large simmering pot of homemade soup on the burner.

if you can get past the lack of idealistic picture qualities (ie. the epitome of a 1940's woman) and accept my own not-quite-perfect rendition of a housewife... my house was clean, my husband fed and i had prepared a smattering of homemade food....

i really had become a regular little homemaker!!
