storybook

in all likelihood this isn’t the type of material to provoke a heart wrenching poem,
nor is it going to be written into some #1 new york times novel of love and romance
it won’t be made into a big money making Hollywood chick flick
no it isn’t even catchy enough to put into song….

you see – everything about them is ordinary. or unordinary… if you consider our day and age. yes - they are ordinarily unordinary.

but yet this story has spanned 22 years, 5 children, job changes, and too-many-to-count renovations

you see it’s all rather ordinary –they got married, they bought a house, they had babies. not something that’s going to bring in the big bucks at the movie theatre this weekend.

but movie or not it’s something to proud of. in a day when many marriages are ending in divorce, and families and children no longer consist of the same last name my parents may possibly be unordinary

Mom & Dad thanks for sticking together through good and through bad. thanks for loving your kids, your family, each other and your God more than you love yourself. thank you for still finding each other funny, for still greeting each other with a hug at the end of the stay, and for still thinking that the two of you are “cool”. thanks loving, supporting, laughing, fighting and for forgiving, and forgiving, and forgiving.

Thank you for being an example to dave and i about how a marriage can work and how to work to make a marriage last. no your not perfect -not even close (no offense) but thank you for showing us why having Christ makes a difference

one smart little lady once said that she looked at a couple and wanted to “love like that and be loved like that”. mom and dad you’ve given us something to be proud of, something to aim for, and something to treasure.

Happy anniversary!!
